LA BONTÉ DELICIOUS ETHICAL NUTRITIOUS

Our mission is to benefit children, young people, and the wider community in and around the Suffolk–Essex border by reconnecting people with local, seasonal, and sustainably produced food.

Through our catering services, we promote a more conscious and community-focused food system — preparing nutritious meals from scratch using ingredients sourced directly from local farmers and small-scale producers. This approach supports sustainable agriculture, strengthens the local economy, and ensures fair pay for suppliers.

In addition to catering, La Bonté Catering will provide long-term educational workshops in schools and community spaces to help children and young people understand where food comes from, how to prepare it, and how to make healthier choices. These workshops aim to reduce reliance on ultra-processed foods and to inspire confidence, curiosity, and practical skills around cooking and nutrition.

We are especially focused on supporting young people who have limited access to fresh, nutritious food, and creating opportunities for local employment and training within food and agriculture.

By celebrating our region’s vibrant food culture and encouraging real, unprocessed eating, we aim to strengthen local resilience, wellbeing, and pride in the community’s food heritage.

Challenging our food environment for lasting change.

Real Food, Not Ultra-Processed

At La Bonté, our mission goes beyond serving delicious, nourishing meals. We’re here to challenge the status quo — starting local, thinking long-term.

We’re passionate about making real food the norm, not the exception. That’s why we actively campaign against the rise of ultra-processed foods (UPFs), especially in schools, care homes, and food banks. We believe everyone deserves access to high-quality, nutrient-dense food — not just those who can afford it.

Educating and Empowering Young People. Creating Skills, Jobs, and Opportunity.

As a social enterprise, our mission is to reinvest our profits into community workshops, training, and food education — because lasting change starts with knowledge and access.

Working with young people through hands-on cooking sessions, farm visits, and workshops that connect them with real food and local producers. They learn how to cook from scratch, eat well on a budget, and understand the impact of their food choices — building confidence and life-long skills along the way.

Supporting a Better Food System

We’re working toward a system that values nutrition, sustainability, and fairness — where food waste is minimised, small-scale suppliers are paid fairly, and access to good food isn’t a privilege, but a right.

Celebrating Local Produce

We’re proud of where we live — and the incredible growers, makers, and producers who feed our community. Through catering, events, and education, we shine a light on their work and bring people together around food that tastes good and does good.
